The Eberhard&Co Scientigraf automatic watch is a reissue of a famous model produced by the manufacturer in 1961. This revolutionary model for the time was designed to combat the negative effects of magnetic fields that affected the operation and precision of watch movements at that time. It should be noted that Eberhard&Co released their model while Rolex’s project was still under study. To overcome these problems caused by magnetic fields, Eberhard had designed a device similar to a Faraday cage. The movement of the Scientigraf model was protected on all sides by a cage made of iron, because this soft metal absorbs magnetic waves. The Faraday cage from 1961 is of course also found on the current model which houses a high-precision Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement.
